Black Falls is located on the grounds of Camp Frank D. Merrill, the Mountain Ranger camp 11 miles north of Dahlonega. The road which affords access to the falls is often locked and one should check with the visitors center before attempting to visit this falls, however since 9/11 the area has been restricted. To reach Camp Frank D. Merrill, go out of Dahlonega north on Hwy. US19 for 2 miles and turn left on Camp Wahsega Rd. Follow this road for 9 miles to the entrance to the Ranger Camp.
