The name of this falls results because of the view as seen from a canoe as it approaches this Class IV rapids. It appears that the water falls off the "Edge of the World". To reach this falls follow Ga. Hwy 53W from Dawsonville, Ga. for 6 miles to the bridge across the river. Park at either end of the bridge. The trailhead for the Amicalola River Scenic Trail in Dawson Forest is on the Dawsonville side of the bridge. The trail reaches the rapids approximately one-half mile downstream and continues making a 3.5 mile loop back to the trailhead. The first 20 yards as the trail drops down to the river's edge with steps of uneven rocks. Beyond that the trail to the falls is fairly flat as shown below.
