| The Palouse prairie in southeastern Washington state and the western part of northwest Idaho consists of farmland with continuous wheat fields on rolling hills creating a scenic wonderland. Trees grow sparingly in the region and as a result, the fields of wheat and to a lesser extent fields of canola and lentil appear unending and unbroken. The scenery created by the combination of these crops and plowed fields and the repeating and contrasting patterns are the subject of the photographs on the following pages. The images were made on a July evening during harvesting driving the back roads between 7 and 9 p.m. and the following morning between 10-11 a.m. while driving through the panhandle of Idaho. | ||
